A DECADE OF EXCELLENCE!
New Principal Returns to Osos!We are excited that at the February 7th meeting, the Board of Trustees named Ms. Susan Petrocelli as the Los Osos High School Principal, effective July 1, 2012! Ms. Petrocelli had been a teacher and assistant principal at Los Osos and for the last two years has been an assistant principal at Rancho Cucamonga and Colony High Schools. Welcome back, Ms. Petrocelli!
Welcome to Los Osos High School and the spring semester! The fall semester was one of our best and I continue to be proud of the achievements of Los Osos students. Grizzlies continue to shine in the classroom, on stage, in the athletic arenas, and in the community! I appreciate all of the support, encouragement, and guidance that parents, teachers, and coaches provide and I acknowledge that student achievement would be impossible without you. The upcoming semester will be both exciting and challenging as we will strive to improve while facing a severe budget crisis. Reduced funding from the state will affect Los Osos High School and the Chaffey Joint Union High School District, but we remain committed to ensuring that student learning and achievement will be our top priorities. The simultaneous beginning of the year and the spring semester is a perfect time to review with your student the progress made towards achieving their personal and academic goals. If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to take this time to celebrate successes and revise plans to finish this school year strongly. We expect to work hard to challenge our students and provide them with the support they need to meet their goals. We remain the highest achieving comprehensive high school in San Bernardino County with an API of 837; our schoolwide goal is to improve 5 points this spring. Our testing season begins with the High School Exit Exam for sophomores on March 13 and 14 and our STAR testing from April 12-19. The STAR testing is a little later than previous years and we believe the additional week will help our students to be even more successful. Please feel free to share your thoughts with me by email or when you see me on campus; I enjoy interacting with you and want to know how you feel about what is happening on campus. FREE TUTORING!Free tutoring is available in the Library for all students in any subjects according to the schedule listed below. The tutoring is provided by our National Honor Society (NHS) students. No need to sign up or make an appointment; feel free to stop by on a regular basis or just when you need additional help. Monday -Thursday 7:00-8:00 AM and 3:00-4:00 PM During both lunches everyday A credentialed math teacher will also be available to provide free tutoring after school on Mondays and Wednesdays and a Chaffey College student is available to tutor on Tuesdays and Thursdays. |
