Here is a little information about me.

I majored in Environmental Biology at the University of La Verne. I also attended the Universite' Internationnel de Strasbourg in France as well as Cal Poly, Pomona, Chaffey College, Mt. SAC and Citrus College for some of the coursework in my undergraduate program. I have earned a Master of Arts degree in Science Education from ULV. I continue to attend and present at conferences and workshops to advance and share my understanding in the ever changing field of Biology and my skills as a STEM teacher using technology for the classroom.

I currently teach 9th grade students in the science department here at Los Osos High School. My 2016-2017 classes are Honors Biology. I have taught a variety of courses both at the junior high and high school levels. I have been teaching at Los Osos since Fall 2005 and it continues to be one of the most rewarding and satisfying experiences in my 27-year career as a teacher.

I am happily married to Mr. Fred Diver (some of you might know him from the Alta Loma District). I am the mother of 2 young adults, Ashley and Austin. I have 2 lovely granddaughters. Our household includes a variety of pets; 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a pond with a frog, some koi and lots of goldfish.

My favorite hobby is traveling with my husband. We have visited many National Parks and Monuments, both in the Western United States, in the Mid West and on the East Coast. During the summer of 2010, we visited family in Oklahoma and we then traveled to Germany, France and Spain. In June of 2014, we visited Dublin, Ireland for a weekend. Then we did a historic D-Day tour of Normandy, France as well as the Roman battlefield at Alesia. We visited Switzerland for a week where we toured a medieval castle on Lake Geneva, the Cailler chocolate factory, and the Gruyere cheese factory. Last summer, we visited Oklahoma City, Branson, MO and Dodge City KS and Grand Junction, CO, so we could add to the number of states we have visited.

We try to get to Pagosa Springs, Colorado at least once a year to cross-country ski, bicycle and hike. I love to take pictures of the places where we travel. I try to find the best zoos, art and history museums in all the locations where I spend my vacations. I especially enjoy taking photographs of wild flowers, rainbows and birds.

Policies : I have very high expectations for all of my students and for myself as an educator. I know that every person learns differently and I try to make sure that information is presented in a variety of ways to engage the learner in their best learning style. I have a reputation for being strict in terms of enforcing school policies. I believe that following the rules provides the most positive and distraction free learning environment for all students as a group and each unique person as an individual.
