August 26, 2019

Dear Grizzly Parents,

On August 14, 2019, parents were informed of the opening for a parent representative position on our School Site Council.  In response to this message, we had five parents submit their interest in serving on our SSC.

On the bottom right of our home page on our website you will find a link titled "candidate biographies."  Click this link to read the names and information on the candidates prior to voting for your selection.  Below the candidate biography link is the link for the ballot.  To cast your vote, print out the School Site Council Ballot, make your selection and drop off your ballot to the Principal's office at Los Osos High School before 4PM on Friday, August 30, 2019.  No ballots submitted after this time will be accepted and there is only one vote ballot per parent.  Only the parent, or current student of parent may submit the ballot to the Principal's office.  Signature is required.

At the end of the voting period, ballots will be counted by three current members of the council.  All candidates will be notified by the Principal's office of the election results.

Thank you for your time and for voting.

Claws Up,

Mr. Joshua Kirk
LOHS Principal

August 19, 2019

Good evening, Grizzlies. This is Mrs. Morton, Assistant Principal at Los Osos High School.  I’m calling to remind you that we have a closed campus and no drop off policy:

Given the tragedies we have witnessed in schools across the country, we have decided to take proactive steps to ensure a safe campus. Therefore, for the safety and security of your child and all Los Osos students and staff, no items will be accepted for drop-off in the front office. This could include, but is not limited to:  food, phones, clothing, school work and materials, athletic equipment, and so on.

In addition, we are a closed campus. Non-students and unauthorized visitors are NOT allowed on campus during the school day. The District considers the safety and health of our staff and students a top priority. The District believes there is a safer way to monitor visitors on our campuses and has replaced the paper visitor sign-in sheets with the LobbyGuard Visitor Management System. You will continue to be required to present your identification to the office staff.

Thank you for your understanding Grizzlies. Have a great night!

August 14, 2019

Grizzly Parents,

This is an announcement regarding the one parent representative opening we have for the LOHS School Site Council.  School Site Council meets once a month and consists of parents, students, certificated staff, classified staff and administration.  Elected members serve a two-year term in office. The primary objectives of School Site Council are the Single Plan for Student Achievement and the School Safety Plan.  Per our SSC By-Laws, this opening will be filled through a voting process.  Parents will be able to fill out a ballot and submit a vote (one vote per parent) towards the candidate of their choice.  If you are interested in candidacy, please submit a letter of interest including a brief paragraph describing your background information related to this position which will be placed on the ballot for parent voters. You can either email your letter of interest to the principal’s secretary at melinda.ciotti@cjuhsd.net or turn in a hard copy to the principal’s office.  All letters of interest must be submitted no later than Tuesday, August 20th, 2019 at 4:00 pm.  No candidates will be considered after that time.  The names of the candidates and their background information will be posted on our website no later than Monday, August 26th.  Instructions on the voting process will also be sent out to parents during that time.  Please let us know if you have any questions and thank you for being partners with our staff to support the continued growth and success of our students and school community.

 Claws Up!

August 14, 2019

Good evening,

This is Mr. Kirk, principal at Los Osos High School.  I am calling you this evening to invite all of our freshmen parents to participate in a brief survey about our school district.

Each year, our district surveys thousands of stakeholders to gather input about the services we are providing families and students.  This information contributes to the development of our annual Local Control and Accountability Plan, a plan that outlines the services, supports, interventions, investments, and more that we make to provide the best possible education for all of our students.

Your voice matters and we value your feedback and input.

I ask that you take a few moments this evening to take this important survey.  You can find it by going to our website at www.cjuhsd.net or our school’s homepage and it can also be taken via cell phone with no need to log-on.  Please click the link to the 2019 Parent and Family Partnership Survey located on the left of our homepage under Quick Links. A School Loop message was also sent out to all freshmen students and parents with this information and a link for the survey.

The survey only takes a few minutes.  It is available in English and Spanish for parents.

Again, we appreciate your participation in this important survey.  If you have any questions, please contact us at (909) 477-6900
